Named after the native American « Aleut », Alaska means « Great Land ». First a Russian territory used by the trappers and wood industry, it is acquired by the United States in 1867 for next to nothing.
Alaska is by far the largest states of the USA, but also one of the less populated. The wildlife is characteristic of the cold environment, it isn’t rare to come across grizzlies, Caribou, Moose and Wolves. The alaskan shores are jagged and rough, with the coastal landscape plunging into the ocean, forming fjords.
It counts over 100 000 glaciers, millions of lakes and several volcanos. It host in particular Denali, also known as Mount McKinley, the highest mountain in North America. Nature in a state of extremely rare immaculacy.
